Positive: The lodge is about a 20 minute speed boat ride away from Kalapajra Port. The port itself is some 10 minutes away by taxi from the bus terminal (which is centre city). There is no proper way to get to the port than to hire a taxi from wherever you are in Puno. You have to schedule getting picked up to go to the lodge from the port, by informing the lodge’s caretaker Nestor, at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before his scheduled rides. He can pick you up from the port between 12:55 - 1:30 pm, 3:55 - 4:30 pm, or 6:25 - 7 pm. To schedule this, you can whatsapp the lodge’s coordinator Frank, a day before your stay, or request your taxi driver to call the lodge’s number to update them that you want to be picked up at any one of those 3 times. The lodge itself is very nice. It’s on a floating reed island that has 2 or more guest rooms. The room we were in had two basic beds with 3 layers of quilts and a space heater. What made up for this simplicity was the view of the lake! If you sleep with the curtains opened, you can see how the lake and sky change their colours throughout the day and night. The toilet is very tight space-wise, and consists of a toilet this is like what you’d get at an camping park (no flushing, and you cover your business with powdered pellets that are provided). The lodge has a small communal dining room where you can have your meals or meet other travelers or have tea and instant coffee. The lodge’s in-house caretaker Nestor, is delightfully nice and joyous, and he will always try to accommodate your needs or preferred tours/activities. His wife and extended family members also live nearby so you can visit them or buy his wife’s handicrafts as well. We paid for our room using USD and Nestor had some change in USD too, so that was helpful. Just make sure that whatever you intend to do, that you have ample amount of Soles as there is no wifi or credit card system in place.

Negative: Some more storage furniture like a cabinet or side desk, and clothing hooks would simplify the stay.
