Summary: My partner and I did lots of research on where to stay in Aguas Calientes and picked this based on the reviews and because it was within our budget. We ended up booking a superior room with a terrace and river view. However, immediately upon checking in, our room wreaked of mold/smelled horribly rotten and was full of moths. We couldn’t even really use our bathroom because it was so moldy and we could feel ourselves breathing in mold as we tried to sleep even when keeping the bathroom door closed. It was so bad that we almost moved to a different hotel entirely. Additionally, turns out the terrace for our room was shared with the room next door (unlike any of the other rooms). This meant the people in that room could walk over and look into our room anytime they wanted (would’ve been nice to know this when booking). Finally, the WiFi was down when we arrived and did not return for at least a few hours. On a more positive note, the hotel did provide breakfast (bread, fruit, cheese, cold cuts). The beds were also incredibly comfortable and the river view was great (also was nice white noise while sleeping). They will also store your luggage for free while you visit Machu Picchu. However, when we picked up our luggage there was a sticky black tar like substance on our bags… Overall, would not recommend as it was incredibly overpriced for what you receive, especially considering the dangerous mold conditions.
