Positive: Nestled in a stunning location, this property offers breathtaking views of water and woods, with the soothing sound of a running stream always present outside. The buildings are as beautiful as the natural surroundings, creating an absolutely gorgeous setting. The seclusion provides a peaceful retreat, though having neighbors close enough offers a sense of security. The stream we had to cross was only a couple of cm of water at the time we went. I can see it being higher depending on the time of year. The sauna heats up efficiently, reaching 40 degrees in about 30 minutes from a starting temperature of 8 degrees. While there are outdoor cold tubs available, we found the post-sauna air cold enough without them. The property is spacious enough to easily accommodate a large family or group of friends, with a well-equipped kitchen featuring ample cooking utensils and a good-sized freezer and refrigerator. The two toilets, separate shower stall, and bath with shower provide plenty of bathroom space. Modern amenities include strong internet and excellent cell reception (we used a Saily eSIM).
Negative: The property offered a variety of snacks, drinks and other amenities for purchase, but they were only accessible through PayPay, a payment method limited to Japanese citizens. Hopefully in the future they'll have other payments available so foreigners can utilize them as well. The sleeping arrangements presented a significant challenge; the futons were placed directly on gorgeous hardwood flooring instead of traditional tatami mats, which we found very uncomfortable. We could feel the dips between the floor planks through the thin mattress, and our attempt to improve the situation by stacking the two futons only provided slightly more comfort at the cost of a cramped sleeping space. Even with those two issues we would absolutely stay here again and recommend it.
